Colorado Latino/as to Know and Support: July 2022
Alchemy Ritual Goods is a BIWOC owned metaphysical brick n' mortar shop near 5 Points in central Denver. (2536 Champa St, Denver, CO 80205.) Our little shop has been open for 5 years and offers tools for your spiritual work. We have books on everything from meditation and yoga to tarot and witchcraft, with a special section dedicated to indigenous spiritual traditions. We have candles, crystals, herbs, jewelry, and more. We offer an integrative, donation based clinic, called the Ancestral Medicine Clinic, where we offer many types of healing modalities and spiritual readings.
Three of us own Alchemy Ritual Goods. Lalania Carrillo, Flor Marquez and Faatma Be One. All three of us are artists. Lalania is from Denver, Flor is from Longmont, and Faatma is from Iran.
Why did you open Alchemy Ritual Goods?
We wanted to create a sacred space where people could deepen their relationship with spirit and learn to heal themselves.
What sets your business apart from others? As women of color, we have a unique perspective of the needs of our community and we have the trust from our customers that we are truly in service to them. We are able to offer indigenous medicine services to the public.
What do you hope to gain or share by including your heritage/identity/culture in your business?
We hope to amplify the voices of all identities and cultures. Many of our practitioners do work from a mestizo tradition.
Being a small business owner is not easy. What challenges have you faced?
Covid quarantine was challenging, but our community lifted us up!
What is the most joyful part of your business? It could be something that happens during everyday operations, a single memorable event, a feeling, a purpose...
Working with people to deepen their connection with spirit in their own personal way. Seeing how people are healing through their sessions with our incredible practitioners. These things are why we love what we do.
What are you most proud of?
That we are thriving!
What qualities, characteristics, or people have contributed to your success?
Integrity, honest pricing, true love for people, and a desire for each person's wholeness.
What advice do you for others who want to start their own business? Do you have any advice for Latino or Latina individuals specifically?
Anyone can start a business. Failure also happens. This is my third storefront!
